It's not selfish at all, you have to do what's best for both of you overall! If you're struggling and wanting your body back then stopping now is probably what's right for you! I have seen people say to mix breast milk and formula starting with mostly breast milk and a bit of formula and gradually changing it to be mostly formula to get them more used to the formula which also means you can gradually pump less as well to avoid getting mastitis or super engorged
I completely forgot about mastitis being an issue having had it before. I’ve been feeding 2-3 times a day from breast (especially morning and night feeds) but during the day has all been formula. He’s taken well to formula which is great but I do worry I’ve left it a little late as I should have started the process earlier?
It’s hard ❤️ but you are the mum, do what’s best for you and the little one. Happy mums are better mums ☺️ Try finding another way to comfort your little one while they feed. Get all cuddled with them and a favourite toy/comforter. Or try rubbing their ear, stroking their face, etc. you’ll find something to replace the boob 💕
I’m in the same position and have been dropping one feed at a time per week (the night feed will be the last one to go). I’ve also started to introduce solids which has helped the transition.
I haven’t got any advice on how to stop but going cold turkey will put you at risk for mastitis so I’ve seen people saying drop feeds and replace with formula gradually x
