Gym anxiety 😥

I’m getting back into the gym again 15 months pp 🙃 I used to always go with my husband but we are no longer able to do this as one of us has to stay with our son obviously I feel so lost and I don’t have anyone else to go with, just wanted to know how I can start to be more comfortable in the gym

I was always so scared of the gym but I managed to get through it by first starting to do a few classes and then when I wanted to get more confident actually with the equipment, i found that getting a pt to do a few sessions to show you a few workouts and how to use the kit gave me the confidence (if money allows). I would also get someone to write you a plan or get some plans off the internet so you don’t feel lost whilst you’re there.

@Julia I have actually been thinking about getting a PT in the new year and bless him, my husband has made me a little booklet with a workout plan inside 🥰 I know I just need to push through it, I’ve just always been accompanied 😅

I would defo get at pt, just to give you a boost of confidence. Once you’ve done it once, you’ll be fine! And good you’ve got a plan! I think that’s the worst when you don’t know what to do next!

Does your gym offer induction? The gym I was working (Nuffield) offered as many induction sessions as the nem members needed. Good luck! You can do it. Xx

@Andrea I’m honestly not sure, it’s PureGym in Hednesford if that helps xx

You’ll build confidence with time. I started with going when the app told me it wasn’t as busy and just doing cardio (felt embarrassed to do weights) and slowly just edged myself out to doing more. Honestly now I feel like I could walk in there butt naked and no one will notice everyone’s more bothered on their own thing xx
