Please don’t worry , at least you were able to get anything …when I was pregnant suggest my daughter , I could get anything at all . It all came when she was born and she got it straight from the boob . Harvesting colostrum is not the be all and end all mama x
I wouldn’t worry, are there medical concerns that make it more likely that you and baby will be separated after birth? If not then the odds are it won’t be required. It has no reflection on how nursing will go once baby is born.
I didn't get any before baby arrived but mine was there as soon as baby came
I used to put a hot water bottle on my breast for 10 minutes before trying to express. I also found that the more I did it, the more I could get. So I did it 1/2 times a day on each breast x
Don't stress about it mama. I've been having children for the last 13 years and colostrum harvesting seems to be a newish thing. I didn't do it with my newest baby- to me it was just one more thing to add to my list so I just left it. It all comes in when baby is here. Our bodies know what they're doing xx
When your baby is born, your body will provide you with it. I've never pumped before having my baby bc I heard it can put you in labor
I managed to collect with my first, couldn’t get any for my second. I started to worry slightly but everything was fine when baby was born. Maybe when baby gets here you can try collect some of that and save it instead - that’s what I did
Try to not stress it, a lot of moms need the baby to be born to be able to get anything of substance. Even myself in my 4th pregnancy didn’t get hardly any until he was born but I managed to freeze quite a bit before my milk came in. I collected with a hakaa after he came and we left the hospital. When baby is first born their stomach is only about the size of a marble you will have plenty to feed them, just nurse on demand and remember they are much better at extracting the milk than even a hospital grade pump. I don’t have any magical tips for before birth to harvest but I hope someone else lose can help you there. Make sure to stay hydrated and keep your electrolytes up.
