I’ve read loads about this as it seems to unclear and the general guidance seems to be a little, not too often is fine and to try and wait at least an hour before feeding, per unit.

The body usually metabolises alcohol in a couple of hours. Now, we are all different and your body could take longer or less.

I’ve read in a few places that if you drink 1 glass of wine you need to stay 2 hours without breastfeeding. 2 glasses of wine 4 hours…

My midwife and a lactation consultant both agreed you don’t need to pump and dump and can feed as normal after one or two drinks

So I got these strips off Amazon, to test your milk, you only need a drop so can do it strait from breast, now I can handle my drink ( pre pregnancy) I had a high tolerance, but my friend can’t she’s like two pint penny and she’s done, we both drank two Malibu and cokes ( single shot each) and my test came barley any alcohol after two hours according to test I could feed baby, her test came back as a hell no, high levels of alcohol 😂😂 so I mean I think it all depend on person but I’d say if you can, pump before drinking as a back up feed or two, and then test when you wanna breast again

@Kellie interesting! Ima save that chart

I got to a breastfeeding group where it has 2 ladies there that run it and both have stated that drinking while breastfeeding is fine it doesn’t effect your baby at all in order for it to get to your baby through your milk you would have to drink enough to kill yourself basically…you don’t need to pump and dump just be sober enough to safely feed without being in a state of almost passing out or anything serious x
