Mixing breastmilk

I’ve been mixing my fresh breastmilk with the milk that I’ve bumped throughout the day. My mom told me not to do that anymore because it’s causing my baby to spit up. But my doctor. Told me it’s fine to do that as long as it doesn’t stay out for too long. So here’s my question, Can I milk fresh and cold milk together? Is it safe to give to my baby or should I just stop mixing them?

I do that as well! It’s totally fine!!

I used to mix donated breast milk and my own before and it was fine. Does your mom have a medical degree? If not, don’t be shy to trust the professional. That’s what your doctor is there for!

so you can’t mix the same warm milk with cold. What i do is whatever i pump put in the fridge until it’s about the same temperature as the one that was already there and then mix it.

Mixing cold and warm breastmilk can lead to bacterial growth, according to my IBCLC. I do the same as Eddaleez.

Mixing same temperature is fine :) I doubt what you’re doing is causing the spit up. What is her basis for saying this?

According to the IBCLCs I've talked to, as long as they're the same temperature when you mix them it should be fine. I pump after feedings and I'm in the process of upping my supply from just enough so I can build a stash, but this means I don't have enough milk from a single pump session to freeze it so every morning I start a little jar that I keep in the fridge, and after each pump session I put the pump bottles in the fridge for about 30-45 minutes then dump it into the jar.

I’m at Aeroflow breastfeeding group on Facebook, the lactation consultant there advise to mix milk in the same temperature

@Elisa do you know if that’s just if you’re storing it in the fridge, vs mixing fresh pumped and cold to feed to your baby now?

My pediatrician also told me that pitcher method is fine! (I think some babies just spit up more than others. Our baby has really spit up maybe six times total, but my neighbors baby is constantly puking. I don’t think it really matters haha)

Thank you ladies for all your advice! I will keep all this information in mind for now on. ❤️
