C-section recovery tips

My daughter was born via emergency C-section last night....wasn't in the birth plan so never read up on it lol 🙈 any tips for recovery? Midwives just seem to tell you the bare minimum. My husband has 2 weeks off work, would it be better for him to take 6 weeks? I have a 3 yr old and was told not to lift anything heavier than baby. Will it be harder (pain/recovery wise) to take her nursery and get her ready whilst still recovering if he isn't at home?

Congratulations! I’m having a planned c section this time after an emergency with my first who is 22 months old. My husband is taking 6 weeks off as I won’t be able to drive to take my daughter to nursery and lift her etc for possibly that long. I probably could have done those things sooner last time but I didn’t want to risk it in case it does take that long and would rather take it slowly rather than do any damage. I hope your recovery goes well and I’d definitely advise staying on top of your pain meds - I alternated ibuprofen and paracetamol every 4 hours which seemed to help a lot!

Congratulations, hope both you and baby are doing well. I had an emergency c section with my first 22 months ago and have opted for an elective c section this time around. My partner only gets 2 weeks paternity leave and I am a stay at home Mum. As my family doesn't live nearby it will mostly be me. I would advise avoiding lifting anything heavy and stay on top of your pain medication and any blood thinner injections if you were prescribed them. Avoid driving until you feel you can carry out an emergency stop without causing any pain. I'll be having any shopping delivered to the house or my partner will be doing shopping and any driving to and from appointments until I'm recovered. Coughing, sneezing, bending over can be quite painful at first so may help to hold a cushion on your stomach to ease it.

I had a section with my first and have an elected one this time. Make sure your are on top of your medication. Each person recovers differently but in my case after a week I was able to go for a short walk. At like 1 weeks I ventured out fir a walk and to the cafe by myself and met 2 friends there. This time around my husband has 2 weeks pat leave and then one more week of annual leave. My little one is 2.5yrs old. I will.not be alone with both until baby is like 6 weeks as my husband does not work Mondays and she is at nursery other days. I don't think it's tye section recovery that worries me , it's more the logistic of looking at baby and toddler 🤣
