Breastfeeding

My 7 week old baby constantly waves her arm around and hits me with it during breastfeeding. She is sucking at the same time and doesn’t seem to be crying. Is this out of frustration? Or is this her trying to give me affection?

My 16 week does this. I think it’s just exploration. If she was frustrated I think she’d cry!

My girl started doing that and now she is 11 weeks she is much more gentle and just feeling around, she only hits and stops sucking when she has wind xx

It's affection, she's trying to give back to you to say thank you for feeding her 🥹 it's called cross identification 🥹

Both my girls did this, now my one year old throat kicks me and twists my skin and sticks her whole hand in my mouth lol 😂 all out of love haha ❤️😂

I’ve read it’s a natural response to stimulate more milk ❤️ I remember feeling like it was an amazing first feeling of her awareness of the world x

My almost 7 week old does this too, not every feed and during the whole feed! I would say it’s them showing affection and also exploring. They still won’t have much control over movement so it’s a good thing they are exploring their movements :) Does your baby smile during a feed, my little girl just started to do this and it’s so gorgeous x

@Beth I LOVE the smile feed 🥲
