Sleep training gone wrong?

I started sleep training my 5.5 month old son about 3 weeks ago. I was so happy because it seemed it was taking well to the training. He was going down with some tears but it felt like the duration of the crying was decreasing. It feels that on the third week we’re hitting a wall. The crying is getting worse that when we first started the sleep training. He isn’t unwell or in pain but is going through the fussy phase of leap 5. Could this be what’s impacting it? I’m trying not to get disheartened and feel that the training didn’t work and not sure what I am supposed to do now 😭

What sleep training route are you doing

@Sydney I’m doing a gentle controlled crying. Basically go and offer comfort and support (shushing and patting and not picking up) at set intervals no longer than 5 minutes

Maybe that way doesn’t work for your little one? I would lessen the minuets he is left. Go 2 mins then 3 ect. But could just be that way wont work at all x

That’s helpful. Is there another approach you’d suggest? Also how long should I stick with this approach before trying something different?

Could just be that he needs a cuddle if he gets upset and doesn’t calm/stay calm well

My pediatrician said-You should try for 7-10 days and if it’s not working then stop that method. But always check with the dr of course.
