Sweep

Has anyone had a successful sweep? I had one yesterday (40 weeks), midwife said my cervix was 1cm dilated and very thin, I also lost my mucus plug last night after it. Could labour be near? Would love to hear anyone’s experiences?

Hi! That sounds very reassuring. I had my sweep on Tuesday morning and I was 40+1 weeks. I was 3cm dilated & soft cervix at the time of my sweep. Lost my plug at 5.30pm that day.. started mild pains late that night into the early hours of Wednesday morning. Went to hospital at 7am with more intense pains and birthed my baby boy at 10:35am. I would advise to move as much as you can after your sweep to get things moving along

Are you in pain ? I had a sweep yesterday morning lost my mucas plug and have been in mild pain from it being done until about 5pm and then the pain ramped up a bit but still no regular contractions. I've had some sleep but keep waking up in discomfort. Waiting until the morning but I've never had a successful sweet and only went into labour natural once so just waiting to see if things do ramp up which I hope they do. I'm 38 + 5

For my first I had a sweep at 40 weeks, the midwife started to laugh while doing it saying I’m 2cm dilated and will be having the baby in 24 hours. I kind of just shrugged it off because I wasn’t feeling anything. The sweep was at 2pm on a Wednesday and I gave birth 8am on Thursday 😂 I thought it was just mild pain from the sweep that was hitting me when I got home but no, it was the start to labour as it just got stronger as the night went x

Following as I’m 40w tomorrow and been offered a sweep

Thank you everyone sounds promising, I’ve had mild pain but nothing consistent or contraction like, hopefully not much longer 🤞🏻
