Cerclage removal

I got my Cerclage put in at 22 weeks. It wasn’t an emergency luckily but no complications afterwards. They took it out at 38 weeks and I gave birth at 40+3. I thought once they took it out the baby would slide right out 😂 but no he stayed put. The removal process was also really easy, a lot easier than getting it put in. I was also able to stop taking the progesterone at 38 weeks as well

@Suzarah Oh wow, congratulations. I had mine fitted as an emergency at 21weeks as i started to dilate. Was the removal painful ?x

Hi Girl! I had mine put in at 21 weeks due to cervical shortening, no complications afterwards. I was on the progesterone also till 34 weeks. Cerclage was removed at 37 weeks, the process was easier and quick than putting it in. I didn’t feel any pain at all. I thought baby would be here now but now yet hahaha. Still waiting.

@Sophie thank you! My baby is 8 months now :) and no it wasn’t as painful as getting it put in. It was about as painful as a Pap smear, maybe a little bit more but it’s quick.

@Sophie No I didn’t take anything. They had the gas setup for pain but I didn’t need to use it as I was totally fine. I had to ask if they actually removed it haha coz it wasn’t painful at all. They said maybe I have high pain tolerance. You will be fine hun!
