Introducing dummy + bottle

This might be more one of breastfeeding mamas with 2 or more - but any advice welcome. My little girl is 2 weeks Weds and we've haven't had the smoothest start to breastfeeding (but better than with my first!) she's had tongue tie and is fussy to get to latch at the mo. My husband is desperate to give her a feed to help bond but I'm worried introducing a bottle too early will make the latch issues worse (initially thought issues were from tongue tie, now think it's more to do with fast flow/oversupply). Anyone else in a similar situation or have any advice? Trying to give my husband other ways to bind but it's hard as he usually has his hands full with our 3 year old 🙃

We're in a similar situation, I'm exclusively breastfeeding and have a daughter who is 3 next month. I spend most of my time with my son, and my partner spends most of his time with our daughter as I'm breastfeeding. We won't be introducing a bottle until little man is 6 weeks old, just to avoid any confusion. From my perspective I've been really missing my daughter, so we've done a couple more things just us this weekend. I've fed my son and then given him to his daddy and gone and done something with my daughter, we actually went to fireworks the other night but my partner and son stayed not too far away in case I was needed. The only way I can suggest bonding for your husband is skin to skin, which I'm sure you know of. Maybe feeding your baby and then going upstairs with your toddler and leaving your husband with baby can help them out? Sorry I've not been any help, just wanted to let you know you're not alone x

@Sam thank you lovely, is so tough juggling it all isn't it. She's had some awake time this morning so left her with my husband and eldest to play with her whilst I did some bits in the house. Will suggest some skin to skin with him next week whilst our eldest is at nursery. Sat and did some crafts with my eldest yesterday afternoon which was lovely, although I think I enjoyed it more than she did 😅

Hi, I’m in the same boat with the tongue tie bad latch and also really want to introduce bottle asap.. are you both going to get the tongue tie divided?

I don't have experience with tongue tie but I would suggest trying a bottle before 6 weeks. There was another post recently and a few mums found if they left it that long the baby would not take one. I offered a bottle at 4 weeks with my first and 2 weeks this time, no problem with latch or confusion at all. Just look up paced feeding to avoid bottle preference and I started with size 0 teat mam bottles, the slowest.

@Katie we got it divided on day 5, I spotted her tie straight away as my eldest had a severe one too. But we had to really push and push to get it done as the midwives on hospital kept playing it down 🙄

@Tanya yes this is what I was thinking as had heard if you leave it too long they may not take to it at all. Thinking trying one closer to 3 weeks and see what happens, just nervous of ruining this BF journey as so far it's been so much better than my first and I only lasted 3 weeks with her 😅
