Feeding to sleep and feeding for comfort

I've seen some stuff on social media about how you shouldn't let your child fall asleep on the breast and you shouldn't give them the boob just to comfort them. Just wondering what reasons for this was? I have a 9 week old and in the evenings he falls asleep on ny boob, it's so beautiful and soothing for him đź’• also if he's distressed and the boob helps, i think that's amazing! Do people know why some people say you shouldn't do this?

I’m 7 months in, and still feed to sleep, let her have boob for comfort, I’ve slowly started to add in another comfort association. I think there’s a fascination with babies needing to self soothe, and it’s just not possible! So I’d keep doing what you’re doing x

There is nothing wrong with doing this. It is biologically normal to feed to sleep and to use the breast for comfort. I still nurse my 2.5 year old to sleep. Your baby is so little and totally dependent on you and it's also important at this age for you to nurse responsively. If nursing to sleep and for comfort works for you and your little one then it is totally ok to continue. The boob can be a very useful parenting tool!

It’s completely normal, I still feed my little one to sleep and she’s 1 and a half. But saying that it’s only good if it works for you, if it doesn’t then that’s okay. Just keep doing what works for you ❤️

9 weeks is still so tiny!!! They don’t even realize they are outside the womb yet. Do whatever you need to comfort them

My baby turned one this weekend and I still feed to sleep. I love his bedtime now but used to hate it when I tried not to feed to sleep.
