Breastfeeding mamas!- opinions on this?

Does anyone agree with this statement? Baby girl is nearly 4 weeks, I EBF and no pumping either- I would love to know that the milk regulates eventually (to reduce the random engorgement episodes) and leaking calms down at some point 😅 Because this is giving ‘🐮’ haha What was your experience with milk regulating? Xx

I have days where I feel super engorged and leaky, and other days where my boobs feel soft and don’t leak as much. I think it’s still relatively early days yet. I’m just over a month PP. I pump every now and then if I’m gonna be away from her and need a bottle.

@Jessica same, 5 weeks pp and some days feel like cluster feeding and engorgement and some my boobs indeed feel surprisingly soft!

@Katie I went 6 hours without expressing on our first night out away from her and oh my god i was like Pamela Anderson haha. It was so painful!

it really will calm down! i've been breastfeeding for 25 months now and i think it probably was around 6 weeks with my first that all the leaking and hard boobs calmed down, unless i went a while without feeding. i'm almost 6 weeks pp and still leaking a bit, it isnt as noticeable this time though because im feeding 2 so my boobs have less of a chance to get engorged etc. but it will get better, after a while it will feel totally normal xx

I went through this and freaked out I went on a full mission to up my supply when it actually just regulated 🤣 this happened 2 weeks ago (8 weeks PP now). Breastfeeding got so much easier and I am loving sleeping on my stomach again you have no idea!! I don’t get a whole lot out if I pump which really sucks as I’m trying to get a freezer supply just incase. But everything breastfeeding has gone perfectly especially since it regulated

This is good to know! I currently drip through tops like a leaky 🚰 onto whatever surfaces I’m above 😅

Yes it is true. This is my second baby (4 weeks) and with my first this is exactly what happened.

Thanks ladies! I also get days or moments of feeling soft but recently I’m carrying rocks 😂 was hoping at some point i sync with baby but even baby switches patterns early on so perhaps that’s why it takes a while? @Jessica How do you pump without causing yourself to over produce?Because it would be nice to pump eventually but I don’t want my body to think that was a feed and now make too much, so I’m stuck in a vicious cycle! I also wonder if pumping makes it harder for your body to sync up with baby? xx

@Shamz i tend to pump every other day/two days. Or if baby girl isn’t as hungry one day and I feel engorged then I pump. Tbh I got lazy with pumping last week and it was a struggle to get a bottle. I hate my pump and cleaning it is a pain haha. Haakas are a great alternative tho! I tend to put it on the other boob while she’s feeding.

@Jessica oo I see what you mean! I’ve heard of Haaka- is it not a pump at all and just to collect milk or is it hand expression? Or both? I might have to try it ☺️x

It’s kind of like a handheld pump. Just a suction that goes over the nipple. You can just leave it be and it’ll collect!

I feel like my boobs have kind of regulated. I’m 5 weeks pp and I am always engorged in the morning 6am and again around 9/10am as I always pump at this time and give an expressed bottle. Then they’re fine throughout the day no matter how little or often baby feeds and then I get engorged again in the evening as baby usually cluster feeds in the evening so I think they have regulated to mine and babies schedule lol x

@Shamz Around 4 weeks was when it was also hardest for me and had to constantly take care of my breasts one way or another. Right now at 8 weeks I don’t have massive leaks, only few drops here and there and my breasts are quite soft if baby is feeding every 2-3 hours. It does get better!
