Have you looked into colostrum harvesting? I didn’t do this with my first but am trying to build a supply now for my second as this happened to me. I had a c section and my baby was 9lb 11oz and was very hungry. Ended up giving him some formula as he was so hungry x
I'll try to start this tonight, it's something I've been thinking of. Have I left it too late with only 9 days to go?
I also had about a week and half of harvesting and got enough but I didn’t use it as I got quite a lot of colostrum coming in immediately after my c section. I expressed some at the hospital too for night feeds as baby wouldn’t wake up. Also just to add I had no formula and baby was fine until milk came in on day three but I understand the nervousness around it, my hospital told me at my pre op assessment that they’d provide some formula if needed.
Not at all! You can do it until you go into birth. Dont be disheartened if you don’t get much to start with. It can take time xx
Thanks so much everyone
I wouldn’t bother with formula at all it will prolong the milk coming in. My milk came in on day three and I just let him ‘feed’ on my colostrum until then. He only lost one hundred gram on his five day check, and today on his ten day check he had gained weight. Have you collected any colostrum at all? I had a fee one ml syringes but didn’t even really need them, it just made me feel better. You can buy the formula but I definitely wouldn’t give it straight away, only if there was a problem with your milk coming in. Trust your body ✨
I would get some formula in as you want to rest after the section and if milk isn’t readily available straight away will take some pressure off for you until it does! Mine came in 3 days after the section x
