My daughter is still obsessed with the boob. Nursimg about 4-5 times per day and still at least twice in the middle of the night for a variable length of time. We cosleep though so a lot of night nursing is for soothing. Going to try moving baby to her bed for nighttime this week and see if that helps. Still pumping twice in an 8 hour shift at work but planning to drop to 1 time as we also try to wean down to nursing 3 times per day.
@Lindsey how did you cut night time feedings?
@Natasha my son is too! He will nurse the same amount of times during the weekend. I’m pumping one- two times during the week. Just depends on how much i get from the first pump. He only drinks about 9 ounces of milk at daycare and I’ve been starting to introduce cows milk slowly into the bottles.
@Janessa we also do mixed milk and breast milk bottles. She takes about 10 ounces while I am gone and I pump 6-8 oz normally so whatever I don't pump she gets as cows milk. She has taken to that just fine.
@Natasha yea he has too, hopefully it will make its easierlol. do you use cow milk when you are with her or just nurse her?
@Janessa I just nurse. She has gotten cows milk once while I was home because she had some from a bottle earlier in the day that needed finished but otherwise it is easier (and cheaper) to just nurse. At some point we will start to make that transition but focusing on nighttime right now.
@Janessa night feedings almost got cut by accident! First I started trying to offer water in a straw cup during night wakes for a few weeks, but it was hit or miss. Then I had my partner do the night wakes for one weekend so nursing wasn’t an option for baby. When it wasn’t me getting him, he was fine going without. I kid you not, he started sleeping through the night after that! Now if he wakes up during the night (1-2x/week) he just needs help resettling (pats, shushing, etc).
@Lindsey okay thanks! Recently he has started waking 4-5 a night when i5 was only once. Not sure what is going on but have been:! Thinking about cutting middle of night feedings. Do you still nurse too sleep?
@Natasha yea i agree.
I only nurse in the morning and at night. She gets whole milk at all 3 meals. My girl cut her nighttime feeds around 6/7 months.
@Janessa sounds like a sleep regression which hopefully will pass soon! That’s a lot of wakes, hang in there. I nurse as part of the bedtime routine but i moved it to be step one to break the feed to sleep association. So we do books and songs after nursing. We never sleep trained but made a few tweaks like that which did help
I’m still nursing but down to three times per day. Once at wake-up, once at bedtime, and then once mid day before lunch. We were able to cut out night time feeds at about 11mo.
