I had my second girl by elective c-section 3 weeks ago after a stressful labour that resulted in an emergency c-section with my first. This time was a truly wonderful experience - calm, positive and I was able to be truly present and enjoy it. The team who looked after me were incredible and listened to all my wishes, which as I was prepared for it, I was able to explain well. I found the csectionuk instagram page incredible empowering and positive, as initially I hadn’t really wanted to choose another c-section for my second child. I am so very glad I did though!
Just had an elective c section 2 weeks ago ( my choice 100%) and feel pretty much back to normal already . My first birth was an emergency c section and so stressful and horrible but this time the experience was a million times better . I was so so so nervous beforehand but everyone in the surgery was so kind and welcoming and it felt like I was in there about 5 minutes once she was born as once you’ve got that bit out the way and are handed the baby you just switch off and don’t care anymore . I would recommend it to ANYONE . Such a lovely experience and I would absolutely recommend it and I am so glad I chose that for me 💛
Following along as I'm pretty certain i want an elective next month, so just hoping to not lose this post and be able to see peoples advice/experience!
Best decision I made! Mine was maternal choice rather than medical because the thought of natural delivery just sounded horrendous to me. Was so calm, had the date set and went in on the morning. I was taken to theatre at about 11:30 and my son was born 12:02, I was home the next day at 5pm! Just buy some high waisted underwear and for the love of god stay on top of your paracetamol and laxatives when you’re home even if you don’t think you need them, you do 😂 x
Best thing ever! Had a tough and very stressful natural delivery with my first with a long two month recovery, had a c section a month ago and it was suuuuuuch a different story! So chilled was laughing and joking with the team and they were taking photos for us! Hard first few days but stopped taking painkillers by day 5. Didn’t stop me hoovering before in-laws arrived on day 2 though 🤣 and was back driving within two wks! The only thing I can’t do is lift my my VERY heavy 16 month old! I honestly wish I’d chosen c section for my first baby!! The only thing I can say that I found was a negative and you dont really hear about is the intense sickness from all the meds they use but with anti sickness jab I felt better within a few hours! And the coldness you feel during the surgery my teeth were actually chattering, but it’s really not that bad just a bit weird is all!!!
