Stopping breast milk

Hi mums, I could really use your help rn. So I stopped breastfeeding my little , firstly in the day time, then the first feeding before sleep and for the last two nights I didn’t breastfeed her at all. I didn’t have much milk anyway but from today my boobs feel hard and with a little bit of pain. I put ice and I did squeeze little to stop the pain but it seems useless. Now I am really afraid to don’t get mastitis. Could anyone who went through the same process to advice me please? Would deeply appreciate any advice.

Hi there! If squeezing a little didn’t help you can also ask your gp to prescribe tablets that stop the hormone responsible for milk production.I was just like you and took the tablets for 2 weeks and after that it was all gone. There’s also the national breastfeeding helpline you can call for advice.

Both times when I’ve stopped breastfeeding it’s taken about 2 weeks for my milk to stop. Each time, I had to pump ever decreasing amounts over a few days after I’d weaned my babies off the boob completely to help with the hard spots and soreness. And still randomly had to express once about 4 weeks after I stopped because of pain behind my nipple.

@Joanna thank you so much, I will call them now actually xx

@Ruth thank you so much xx
