Successful VBAC experience and Tips

Hi Mama, I am currently 34 weeks with 3rd baby. First was virginal birth at 41+1, second baby was born via (emergency c-section due to fetal distress) at 41+2 at 9cm dilation. I have had a VBAC consultation and been told the risks and benefits, but I would rather hear people's personal experiences than statistics. I really want to avoid and another c-section as I had a rough recovery the last time, I was re-admitted twice after I went home due to infection and my wound opened the second time. I hate being vulnerable and dependent on other people. I went to my 34 weeks consultant app today and I told the consultant that I want to avoid another c-section and I don't want to be induced. She has referredme for a scan at 39 weeks to check on baby and booked me in to see consultant after the scan. She has said that if everything is ok after scan I can have a sweep from 40 weeks and daily monitoring at 41 weeks. Has anyone had a successful VBAC after induction or without induction?

I had a VBAC with my second baby and was induced! Currently pregnant again and hoping for another 🥰 ideally not induced though but would still pick an induction over a repeat section! They offered me sweeps from 38 weeks but I declined until 40 😂

@Jessica that's good to hear abiut successful vbac, hope this pregnancy is going well. What type of induction did you have? The vbac midwife did say to avoid as much medical intervention and try to labour at home as much as possible. I have always had long labours, the last one started during the weekend and I went in as I could sleep due to the pain and they gave me injection and sent me home to wait, I went back on Tuesday morning and was monitored and said I wasn't dilated enough to be admitted and was sent to go walk around and up and down stairs, finally later in the evening I was admitted and taken in to labour room and ended up having an emergency c-section early hours of Wednesday.

Hiii I hope you have a safe and easy vaginal birth and that both you and baby are healthy x I had a VBAC with my second back in June, baby boy is almost 5 months old now 🥰 My labour started 12pm and gave birth at 10:20 pm I have a picture of notes from the midwife of what she recommended and the amounts for every week that I can send you! I was drinking raspberry leaf tea everyday and inserting Evening primrose oil, eating dates + birthing ball exercises helped too.

@Intisar thank you so much for the tips, I'm saving this. I have bought the raspberry tea already and dates. I didn't want to start to early as I'm scared of baby arriving early 😂

You’re welcome!! Ahahaha I was thinking the same thing wondering if baby would arrive early and not be full term but midwife assured me it was a perfect time to start at 34/35 weeks only to have it once x

@Intisar i will defiantly start at 35 😊

They broke my waters and hoped that would do it, but unfortunately I only got to 3cm and then stopped making progress so I ended up with the drip after several hours, really didn’t want it as it caused my section but it worked properly this time and I had a relatively short first actual labour 😊
