I had an emergency c section 10 weeks ago, wasn't the worse thing that could have happened and recover went well considering and altho it's a "pain-free" method of birth u certainly make up for it later the pain can be a lot and recover is much harder them I imagine a natural birth would be. Simple things like getting out of bed and getting up from the toilet hurt and ur really not given much pain relief at all. If ur a single parent would 100% say don't do it only if medically necessary I wouldn't have managed on my own there's so much u can't do. If I had another I definitely wouldn't have another c section if I have a choice. I'm 10 weeks pp and some things still hurt n u forever have a big scar across ur stomach that will always have an over hang. Birth is a lot less stressful on the body x
I had an elective c section due to baby being breech. The whole c section experience was really lovely for me they played music took loads of pictures for us. She was a little stunned when she came out so wasn’t able to hold her until she was ok but was allowed skin to skin while still in theatre I went in at 7 in the morning and was home by 6pm the next day. The 1st two weeks recovery was pretty rough. I have a very low sofa so had to be literally hoisted off that if I sat on it. I found sitting in a computer chair more comfy as it was higher. I still have some numbness in my stomach still 14 months later my scar is barely noticeable now but I do have a small shelf above it that I never had before.
Mine was the absolute dream
I had an elective c section due to baby girl estimated weight, the c section it’s self was pretty good, I did find the spinal painful but this was due to local anaesthetic not reacting well with me other then that it was great, I did freak out during the surgery, the team were amazing and gave me something to calm me down, having a planned section is nice, we were able to choose our own music and meet the surgical team and ask any questions we had. I stayed in hospital for 2 nights and 3 days as I did struggle to get up after but they kept me comfortable with pain relief, I slept on the sofa upright for the first week coming home, what I found the hardest was going to the toilet, my toilet was quite low which made getting on and off quite painful so I ended up making a postpartum trolly near the toilet with everything I needed so I didn’t need to bend or over stretch to get anything I needed. Definitely recommend taking laxatives for the first few days to a week to help you go as
I found I could not push 😂😂 and I could not tell I needed to wee for like 6 weeks and still struggle a little bit now which can happen after the catheter so I just need to look at time and remind myself to go. But I would definitely have a c section again as overall it wasn’t a bad experience and I found recovery was okay
I had emergency c section 7 weeks ago. I had section at 2 in the afternoon. I had catheter out at 7am next morning and I was straight out of bed. By 8 I was walking around the ward. Nurses were quite shocked how well I was doing. Got discharged that day (me pushing for it) got home and had a couple of sore days but within 5 days we were out for walks. Within a week I was back doing washing and cleaning, just slower than usual. I loved my c section
I had an emergency one a month ago, I admit my recovery has been better than I expected, but it is different for everybody and the recovery was the main reason why I wanted to avoid it! The first few days are very tough regardless, I spent two nights in hospital (horrible) and the first night at home I could not move at all, "luckily" they sent me home with the catheter so I didn't have to move, and my LO was on formula the first couple of days. It would've been horrible if I had to get up or even sitting up to BF! I really wanted the hospital bed that goes up and down LOL Also if you are planning on having a next to me, I would recommend having it away from your side the first week or two, as it's very difficult to lift the baby or getting on/off the bed. My husband picked him up while on leave. In terms of the procedure, despite being an emergency one, it was quite smooth and everything went well, although again others might have different experiences.
