Breast pain in one area. What could it be?

There’s no lump or redness which makes me think it’s not mastitis/blocked milk duct. It’s just soreness and aches in one area of my breast

I’m having similar and trying to find answers. I have read that it could still be mastitis but beneath the surface so not visible/feelable. Mine is a little more like generalised pain though in both breasts. Is yours kind of prickly/hot?

I would ring triage and let them know! I had mastitis the past week and it is NOT nice 😩 I wouldn’t even chance it, it’s better to catch it early and antibiotics will get rid before it gets bad! Hope it is nothing though 💗

@Rhea thanks! I had mastitis twice with my firstborn and it was so unpleasant! 😩 It doesn’t feel the same this time.. no lump/redness/hot/fever etc. But going to head to the doctor tomorrow just in case to get ahead of myself in case it’s brewing!

@Katie It felt hot last night but not anymore! My midwife said it could be damaged breast tissue from expressing. I have an oversupply so am feeding and expressing every 3hrs so may just be too much for my breast! She said to try and cut down on the pump and see if it helps. Not sure if it could be the same for you?

I’ve not pumped at all but I do feed a lot, every 3hrs definitely and I also have a big supply. My midwife also said it is likely cluster feeding. My baby also had some green poops the last couple of days which can be a cluster feeding thing. It just does feel different to previous engorgements. I do think that as you say, with no fever etc it doesn’t seem likely to be mastitis but it’s still hard not to worry! I’m seeing ny midwife tomorrow to have a delayed tongue tie divide (lots going on over here!) so will describe more and see what she says. This is my first baby rodeo, I can’t believe how much there is to think about! Hard work! I also can’t believe how long I’m feeding every day, about 4.5-5 hours on the boobs!

@Katie ahh bless you. This stage is such a transition with so much to think about. Feels like your mind is never empty doesn’t it! Breastfeeding is so rewarding but certainly has its challenges
