Help - uneven supply on both sides

I am 9 weeks ppt and exclusively breastfeeding. During the first week both of my breasts were engorged equally and producing same amount of colostrum and then milk. But then my MIL that I should always start feedings from the right side (don’t ask my why I listened😭). And now I have super uneven supply. My left breast produces like not even half of the amount compared to the right side and the difference is visibly noticeable as well! Please help me. I have tried pumping more from the weak side or starting the baby from that side but nothing is working.

You’re just going to have to keep latching more on that side and hopefully it’ll eventually correct itself. Its normal to have a slacker side anyway

Agree with @Trinity , my lactation consultant says it’s normal to have one breast that produces less milk

@Kira D. 60-90 ml on one side and 200ml on the other?

Make sure you rotate your start breast every time, you will always have a slacker one though they won’t ever be even unfortunately! Don’t put too much focus on the other side and evening it out cause you might get a dip on the right what really matters is combined amount of milk in total. You want to rotate every time to make sure baby is emptying both sides consistently. 😊

Yes, that’s normal. Just try to latch more on the slacker side and it may help

@sarah what do you mean a dip?? 😬

A dip as in make less milk, our bodies make more the more we remove. Draining one side more often than the other will leave one not adequately getting stimulation and so it will start to make less. It can take 2-3 days to see supply increases but a baby isn’t gonna keep up with pumping so you might create an oversupply that’s hard to manage while trying to even things out. Once you regulate at 12 weeks your breasts won’t really look noticeably different though we all got slackers haha
