Based on my experience, induction was a slow process made up of several steps; pessary, waters broken manually then the hormone drip over 3 days in hospital. I’d advise to get an epidural before starting the hormone drip.
I’d pack to be in there for a few days. I went in on the Monday, baby born early hours of weds and didn’t leave until midnight thurs. I took loads of snacks but didn’t actually touch them as got meals while there and then once things kicked off, I didn’t think about snacks. Advisable for yourself where you can by having the knowledge of each step. I planned to only use gas and air and tens machine (tens machine really helped) I ended up having the pethadine injection. I didn’t have an epidural as personally I never wanted one but do what you need to do. Good luck and I hope it all goes well for you x
I went in expecting the worst but just kept a positive mind and I had the best experience. I went into labour on only the balloon catheter with my waters breaking on their own. The balloon as fitted 6pm the Friday and he was born by 9:30pm Saturday. As others have said prepare to be there for a few days so prepare yourself some shows to watch, books to read and loads of snacks. If you’re an inpatient you are allowed to freely move around and the midwives encourage you to do so, but also pack some ear plugs as theres always a snorer on the ward 😂x
It’s a side they don’t really tell you about but I think it’s important to know. My induction didn’t work. Had the pessary twice and the 2 tablets and I just didn’t dilate. Wasn’t a bad experience just so you are aware it can happen. I ended up having a c section but honestly I’d have one again 😊
thankyou all:)
Honestly I didn’t know what to expect when I went for mine I got told it is the worst being induced but it’s not that bad at all just go in with a positive mindset and just try not to worry about it I packed for one night didn’t get told until I went in I could be in there for 7 days but luckily I wasn’t he literally came after one jel and it wasn’t even to bad! But packed a few extra things specially plenty of snacks and drinks xx
