Walking vs crawling with pets

Did anyone else who had pets have a baby that seemed to wait to walk. Our girl just turned 11 months and still hasn’t started walking. She is able to cruise from one point to another, but doesn’t want to actually walk. We have 4 dogs and a cat, and this chick crawls super fast and tries to chase the dogs. Does anyone else have a baby that just seems to want to be on all 4s like their fur siblings?

My son initially kinda skipped crawling for the most part, he figured out he could crawl and immediately wanted to figure out walking, but once he mastered independently walking he started going back to all fours especially at home around our dogs!

I have an outside alert dog and an outside cat that occasionally come into the house. My son didn't start walking till 14½ months, his first steps were like he's been walking for a while due to cruising so long, and a few weeks later speed walking🤣

Thank you guys. She was crawling fairly early, so I just assumed we’d also have an early walker.

We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. I never experienced with my 2 kids refusing to walk and only to crawl bc the animals are on all 4s. But could deff be a reason. Do baby walk boot camp. Get her up on her feet. Get a walker. Put her little hands on the bars and encourage her to walk with it. Get in front and have her chase you. You’ll first have to walk with her but sooner then later she’ll want to chase you with the walker. At least mine did. You can also put things in the middle of the room. Sturdy things. Close together but a distance. So she can walk to the objects and grab on to them and take a break. I used my daughter’s toddler chairs and table. I put toys on top to encourage walking over to them more.

Start talking about walking too. Say things like. Look mamas walking! Sing some walking songs. Hold her hand and walk 2 steps or as many as she wants to do.

@Victoria love this. She’s obsessed with her push walkers…she uses them to get everywhere. Everything you’ve said we’ve been doing, so makes me feel like she’s super close.

@Jen then it’s just a matter of time!! Don’t worry and since she’s already walking with support. She’ll be on her feet on her own before you know it. It’s only worrisome when they’re 18 months and still haven’t tried at all. Not even one step. But seems like she wants to and is just about to then!! Good luck to you both ❤️

@Victoria thank you again so much. I went back to work (again after 3 months of unemployment) two months ago, so I’ve been feeling mom guilt not working with her. You’ve made me feel so much better.

I have two rabbits, but my baby took her first steps at 9mo If she needs speed, she crawls. However, if the buns are just chillin, she will walk

My kiddos didn’t start walking till after 13 months! I feel like 11 months is maybe just too early. I would expect them to be “cruising” around though. Also, my babies got held a lot and they were like why walk when someone always holds us and takes us places lol

Walking isn’t a concern until 18 months. She’s got a ways to go.
