She might be going through the colic phase. I’m not sure but it’s my best suggestion right. You should contact your health visitor for advice.

@Zubby thank you ! What are tne main symptoms of colic phase if your child has been thru it ? And what wouod you recommend has fixed it . The gp thinks it’s most likely reflux but atm Ive been recommended to try the sma cows milk allergy milk from pharmacy so im not sure what’s the real issue

What formula is she having

Try aptamil it worked best for my nephew as he was colic and he would cry all the time , also whilst sleeping try soothing music on to help them feel at peace like white noise etc. but if you need more advice just ring your health care advisor as she would know more better hun ☺️

@Alisha newborns are new to feeding and their digestive system is still trying to figure it out. Colic starts from 2 weeks up to 12 weeks, some babies don’t have colic, while some outgrows it by 6 weeks. The signs are: a hard bloated stomach and excess gas after feeding, clenched fists, red face, intense and inconsolable crying for a long period of time, they bring their knees up to their stomach or arch their back while crying. It can happen to both breastfed and formular fed babies. There are colic relief formulas you can try out, or is it lactose free formula, I can’t remember the exact word. And also you can use bio Gaia, it helps with colic.

@A M I’m on aptamil Comfort

Could also be silent reflux

@Zubby what’s Gaia?? And thanks atm the doc just recommended the cows milk allergy formula as gavisgon didn’t work much

@Alisha try gripe water that might help with wind and pain relief

@Alisha bio Gaia is probiotic specifically made for colic relief. I didn’t even know a month old babies can take Gaviscon.

@Maryam I wanted to get the gripe water, but the information on nhs site about it, wasn’t so convincing, I had to get the bio Gaia instead.

Try burping after each 30 ml. If burping does not work all the air accumulated from the feeds transforms into wind. When baby winds it's much more difficult for them as it involves tummy ache, redness in the face, arching their back, frog like legs due to pain. Apart from burping each 30 ml and pacing their feeds try to feed more often less formula. Try and get baby out in fresh air at least 20 min per day. Keep them in an upright position after each feed at least 15 minutes. After this do exercises with them by bending their legs to the knee and up to their tummy but don't force them. Legs must be relaxed. Do 8 like massage on their sole, this is where all the receptors are at least 10 times on each sole. Do X like exercises with their hands, do this after each feed. I had the same issue with my daughter, she's 5 weeks now, it's been few days since I"ve started doing this and noticed massive improvement. My baby feeds a lot through the day, once during night and I manage to sleep also. Good luck!🥰

This happened to my little girl we were told it was colic as she didn’t have signs of reflux but we would burp her so much and nothing we tried all the colic relief stuff but nothing helped. Turned out she had quite a severe milk allergy. It was a bit of a fight with doctors to put her on the right milk but we stood strong and she improved so much.

She might be colicky have you tried colic drops. Baths and white noise is good my baby loves it sends him to sleep with no problem

my girl was like this but also wouldn’t poo for 5/6 days doctors tried to brush it off as ‘normal’ but turns out she has CMPA so now on allergy milk x

@Mia did she have any massive symptoms you noticed for milk allergy and also what milk is she on now

@Alisha mainly just screaming her poos looked normal but we’re maybe 1 a day. She had a bit of a stuffy nose and maybe got a few rash spots round her mouth after a bottle but nothing massively significant besides the crying in pain when she was in pain to she would tense all her muscles and arch backwards. And sometimes her tummy would be tender to touch.

@Mia thanks! Which milk Was your LO put on ? And when did you start to notice the difference im feeling a little scared now I’ve been advised sma althera or something I Think it’s called. But I’m like imagine she dosent even have milk allergy and we just change her milk for no reason

We saw a difference nearly instantly she calmed down a lot and it just got better from there keep in mind if LO does have an allergy the cows milk will stay in their system for a few weeks before it completely goes. We switched her initially to soya milk from the shops which was then discontinued so the doctors proscribed nutramigen which is the first level of formula for milk allergy she was still in pain and screaming and her poos were horrible from that so she’s now on alfamino which has no cows milk at all she’s been on it for just over 3 months and it’s been amazing. Babies typically grow out of milk allergy’s eventually so the doctor told us to change her back to regular formula after a month or two to see if she’s still having reactions. But because of her age and the upset it caused we are waiting till we wean her to introduce it more slowly.
