He’s here

Good morning. I am new here, 43 and just had my first child. I had to have an emergency c-section due to my baby’s umbilical cord being wrapped around his neck and practically his and whole body and he was sunny side up (face up). He was born on 11/07/2024 at 1:22pm 5lbs 9oz 19 1/2 in long. Our due date was today 11/13/24… We’re 6 days postpartum, any suggestions on how to stay positive about breast feeding. Baby not staying latching on. And I’m only producing colostrum right now 😬🥴😕

Beautiful babba 💙 Congratulations! If he is not staying latched on, I suggest getting him checked for a tongue tie. Both my son and daughter had tongue ties and it really affected their latch. If it is tongue tie, you can get it snipped and there are also tongue exercises that you can get babba to do. I would suggest seeing a breastfeeding specialist or lactation consultant.

Thank you ☺️

Be patient, breastfeeding is hard. Don’t give up! You will figure it out 🙏🏼🫶🏻

The milk will come. Especially when he does start latching. Don’t give up on baby, he will figure it out and if he doesn’t there’s nothing wrong with alternatives to breast milk and you can always keep trying and exclusively breastfeed once he gets the hang of it. Try not to be hard on yourself - your hormone drop will make you feel nutso when really you’re just doing everything you can! Hang in there. You’ve got this. And look into hiring someone to help with the latching. In the hospital I was sent several lactation consultants and they all had different ways of method/teaching. Try to stick with one person consistently until he gets it. Congratulations!!!! Sending you a lot of ❤️

They have nipple latches that really help with the latching. Also, have you tried pumping to see if it helps your milk produce faster? Unfortunately I have this same problem so I now feed her formula since she lost so much weight in the first two days from not being feed enough. I still pump and feed her breast milk a few times a day. Good luck mama! It’s hard I know and every baby is different. Don’t give up but if you have to do formula also, don’t feel bad as long as you know you did your best!

My boy was born 5pounds 7oz. We had a rough start to breastfeeding, he wouldn't latch. I used nipple shields and also pumped to help my supply, after a month or so I weaned him off the shield 😁 and we have been breastfeeding since, I stopped pumping at 6months. He was born same day as your boy but last year 🥳🎉 xx He's adorable btw! Xxx

@Clarissa Awwwe cute. Birthday twins.

@April Thank you. I pump and give him that a couple times throughout the day but I also formula feed especially at night. He lost weight while we were in the hospital.

Omg he’s so cute
