I had an emergency c section and was the same - couldn't bf in hospital so daughter was given formula. We had a month of triple feeding (try to bf, give bottle of formula or breast milk and then I'd also pump to put that in the bottle next time). I wouldn't recommend as I was never not doing one of those three and it wasn't a fun month. Out of nowhere though, my daughter suddenly fell asleep after a bf, seemingly satisfied. Then she did it again and now she's just turned one and I'm still breastfeeding. It can happen so, if you want to bf, don't be disheartened. The only thing I'd say is, once the bf kicked off, I focused on that and stopped giving a bottle. She then forgot how to use a bottle and has been EBF ever since which hasn't always been easy. She only started on a bottle or cup at about 10months and only water, won't take anything else 😅
@Carys I’d never even heard of nipple shields until now, might have to give them a go. Thank you! x
I went through something very similar. Honestly, I found the pressure of feeding the hardest part of pregnancy/motherhood. I cried so much over my baby not latching initially. My LO was so used to the bottle I thought I would never get to breastfeed. Then, when he was about 2 weeks old I tried a nipple shield and he took to it very well. Hoping in a couple of weeks to be able to breastfeed without it, but for now it works great! Hang in there and do what you feel is best for you both. No one should make you feel bad. Fyi my boy was very small and was born at 37 weeks.
