Has anyone got any tips on how to get LO crawling on hardwood flooring

LO is 10 months and attempting to crawl. He’s going backwards and is trying to go forwards. We have hardwood floors downstairs and every time he tries to go forwards his legs slip from under him. I’ve put his playmat down which is non slip underneath and a blanket over it but the blanket slips when he’s trying to go forwards and he goes backwards. I’ve tried him with his bare legs but as it’s getting colder the floors cold and I don’t want him getting a cold or anything. Has anyone who’s got hard flooring got any tips?

Just have him in a short Sleeve onesie and diaper only from the waist down, cozy sweater up top. He won’t freeze to death.

Do you have a rug? Maybe put him on the rug that will help. We have a gym mat and rug on our hard floor so she used that when starting to crawl x

Rugs help, the snap together playmats are fine but when I tried it they slipped around and came apart a lot, I didn't find it was worth it. Baby can figure it out on hard floors, though - we have a tile floor in our dining room and kitchen, my mom has laminate flooring, and now my 1 year old flies across both. Just may take a little time 😅

If his legs are slipping out from under him it's probably just a matter of building good core control. Working on sitting helps, but so does letting him be on his tummy or in the crawling position!

He’s finally managed it! He shot across the floor so fast to the dog I couldn’t believe it. He’s even started pulling himself up on the coffee table
