Nappies and clothes for NICU baby

We stayed in hospital for 2 weeks in 2 different NICUs- both asked us to supply our own nappies, cotton wool, nappy bags and bottle brush for washing pump parts. Our girl was in the incubator for about 8 days before they surprised us saying she would move to a cot, we didn’t have any clothes with us for her. They had loads of clothes donated to the unit for tiny babies and they were happy for us to use these until we had more! When she was in clothes, we didn’t really change her outfits too much as she was still attached to tubes and wires and it was a faff and not really necessary! X

For us, nappies were provided. They even had some clothes, however, even though a preemie, our boy was quite big so nothing fit him 🤣 I would say pack more. Better have them and not need them 😉 We didn't have enough and that turned out a bit problematic. He also had (still has) a reflux issue so he needed to be changed quite frequently.

Everything other than clothes and milk was provided for us ☺️ we kept clothes, blankets and milk in the drawers under her incubator for when we were there! Xx

Everything was provided other than obvs my ebm and clothes but Josh was not allowed clothes for a number of weeks due to his prematurity

My son was unexpectedly in NICU and they provided everything until we moved out of a hot cot and as others have said there was a large amount donated to the NICU (currently on my way to donate ours back to our NICU). I did get nappies however, most Asdas will do a free pack of premature nappies and whilst large the Aldi size ones will suffice. For small babies I recommend Sainsbury’s and Next and m and s premature, tiny, early baby range, mother care is ginormous. X

We used hospital supply until we brought our own in as we wasn’t expecting a Nicu stay

Thank you all so much! 💕 I will pack lots in our ‘long stay’ bag just incase but not going to pack excessive amounts in my short term/labour bag! So much packing admin 😃🤯

My daughter was born at 31 weeks, unexpectedly. I didn't even have a hospital bag 🤣🙈. The stuff we had for her at home didn't fit either as she was only 3lb, she didn't need clothes for the first 2 weeks as when in the incubator they like to be able to see a clear chest to watch their breathing so it gave us time to find 4lb clothes 🙈. Nappies where given to us by the hospital as you can't buy prem nappies but can collect your own from asda pharmacies for free, which our families just grabbed us some when they were out shopping to save us a trip as they did ask where possible for you to supply your own. We brought our own wipes and I breastfeed while in hospital so milk wasn't an issue thankfully x
