We combination feed and I was told to go dairy free and we have prescribed formula from day 1 to see a proper difference
Had to df immediately and couldn't have breastmilk for three days until cleared system. And commiserations on the althera, it's horrible to wash up!
I’ve found the health visitors aren’t very helpful when it comes to feeding and we went with the advice of the dietician which was to go dairy free for 3 weeks to get it out my system and then trial re introducing it into formula to test the allergy ( we were combo feeding). I would say within the first week of me cutting out dairy we noticed a difference in our LO
Unfortunately, most health visitors aren't well-trained on CMPA at all. My first one told me she didn't think my daughter had a dairy allergy - not based on anything, just her personal belief that CMPA didn't exist. My second health visitor doesn't know anything about CMPA but doesn't offer advice on it so that's fine, I speak to the dietician instead. My baby was EBF and was very sick with dairy, screamed endlessly, and it took about 4-6 weeks of me being dairy free and she was entirely a different baby after that.
@Melissa tbh the dietitian said to me that very little amount of milk protein goes into breast milk and it doesn’t make any difference and she said I should try only breastfeeding as formula have all sort of stuff init 🤷🏻♀️hv was the same. Feel like they so rude and careless even I have experience with cmpa as my toddler had it and ik all the symptoms and still they try to make me look like a fool that I don’t know nothing especially hv I’m not happy with her at all in general
I went dairy free whilst nursing because if I had so much as a cup of tea, my baby reacted. We combination fed with alphamino formula that was prescribed and now he is 2, has completed the milk ladder and can have whatever milk he wants. So glad I cut it out and gave him the cleanse his body needed personally. We also found that a probiotic made a world of difference to the allergies he was struggling with!
I had to go dairy free for 4 weeks to do the milk challenge. We EBF. My little one reacted on introduction after 4 weeks from one biscuit through my milk. I’ve found HV’s don’t have up to date or correct information on things like CMPA. Only after multiple reintroductions and symptoms occurring my HV has finally said she’ll refer us to the dietician, I got the feeling she didn’t think CMPA was really even a thing :/ hopefully after a 4 week dairy free trial you’ll know if your little one reacts, so maybe worth a try!
