It’s just really uncomfortable but works wonders with a peanut ball
Side steps , deep squats, being on all fours, using the peanut ball , eat fresh pineapple . Drink raspberry tea to help ease contraction
I’m with you on this one. Understand induction is needed in some situations but recently all I hear is doctors wanting to induce just because 😕 @Caryn
@Sammi I’m an AMA pregnancy so my doctor said if I make it to my due date, then induction is suggested in week 41. I don’t want to go any further over than I have to, but also said I’d like to do the sweep first and see how that goes. Then the balloon. Then last resort pitocin. I’m going into this in the headspace of unmedicated with 100% understanding I can and may change my mind. But I know pitocin raises the chance of wanting the epidural because it fast tracks everything. Or can fast track.
@Caryn I think understanding the options is important, but going with your plan until anything needs to be accessed or changed , is the best way to go about it, I think. My best friend is 40 and had her baby unmedicated and no complications at 41 +2 days. Everyone is different. Good luck, you will do great 😘
@Sammi yeah, I’m hoping she isn’t stubborn. 3 weeks left. 🙃
I was induced with citotec, the foley balloon, and pitocin. The balloon was the most painful of the 3. But it was not at all the worst thing imaginable. I wouldn’t stress out if I was told I needed it again ya know. It did its job and got me going to where I needed to be!
I too was induced with citotec, foley ballon, and pitocin. The ballon was uncomfortable but not painful. You will absolutely be okay if they need to do it. My fear of the pain ended up being much more distressing than the discomfort itself. They can also likely give you some pain meds if you feel you need them. The ballon worked great and the combo of that and the meds allowed me to have a VERY fast labor - only active pushing for about 30min and our baby boy was out and safe very quick. You got this!
Everyone is different. The foley bulb personally was not bad at all.
@Sammi we’re doing an induction due to medical reasons , I have cholestasis and borderline blood pressures so the high risk doc suggested it’s best to prevent stillbirth
I'm being induced on the 21st, I requested we start with the Foley. As it's the least harmful to baby. I'm concerned about pitocin and baby going into fetal distress resulting into emergency C-section.
Girl it hurts ! I literally had wind up getting an epidural just to get it done. I would just do sumo squats as many times a day as you can, eat a pineapple, and sex!!
Did they explain why a cervical sweep wouldn’t be step 1?
