Breastfeeding help 😫

My son is 4 next week and I really need to get him off if it was his way he’d be on it for much longer, I notice it’s mostly comfort now but is there anything else I can try as comfort ? I’m really stuck on how to come off the booby milk

I wish I had advice. My pregnancy forced my 3.5 year old to self wean. Does he use/like any stuff animal? My issue is I never left my daughter. If you have support I say give yourself a little holiday. Maybe 2 days cold turkey may work.

Long way - Habit stacking. Try offering a lovey or blanket during the feeds hopefully builds the association that this item is also comforting. Then start cutting feeds shorter one by one. Shorter way - cut 2 minutes off the feed time every day until it’s zero. Idk how often he feeds but I’d start with two feeds and when those two close to only a few minutes, start cutting 2 minutes off the next set. Then follow after feeds with an activity that excites him to help distract.

Thank you both for the advice I’m at my wits end as much as I love it I know it’s definitely time to end now as he’s 4 next week, I was only intending the first year but here we are 😂xx

My auntie sent my cousin away with her dad for 2 weeks and that did the trick. My sister had a real hard time getting my niece to stop and I think she did the counting down thing too.

My son turned four the other day and I told him no more booby because he’s a big boy and he hasn’t even bothered since, so many mixed emotions x
