my midwife says count 10 kicks within 2 hours. if you can’t, try drinking a really cold sugary drink. if you still aren’t feeling enough, go get checked out.

You shouldn’t be counting g kicks til closer to 32 weeks according to the MFM docs I work with. You should feel 10 movements within 2 hours. Does not have to be any certain strength but just a movement. To stimulate drink something cold and lie on your left side preferably in a quiet place where you can relax. Keep in mind babies have a regular sleep/wake cycle at this point so try paying attention to the times of the day or night they seem to be moving less as they are likely sleeping.

My dr has provided this, 10 movements in 1 hr, starting from week 28

I was told to count at 28 weeks and saw that as well on online. 10 movements in 2 hours 😊. I have an app to count kicks but I feel it’s something I can do without. I’m 28 weeks + 3

I think it depends on your dr and circumstances honestly. I see a lot of ppl saying different things and I’m no different. Now I did opt for a home birth so I see a midwife and I am low risk (ftm). But my midwife told me not to count kicks as every baby is different and every day is different. Baby might be super active one day and need more rest the next just like adults do. She said counting kicks just stresses mom out and you know your babies normal so you would know if something is wrong. I would consult your ob to see what they want you to do/whats best for your pregnancy!

i will also add i am high risk, we found out at 23 weeks my baby has iugr and a vsd so its really important for me to be counting kicks. they’ve had me count kicks since about 25 weeks!

@bentlee in that case yes definitely continue but remember baby has consistent sleep/wake cycles now so maybe try to keep account of when those are so you don’t freak out. I helped in a delivery of an IUGR baby the other day. Induced at 36+1 and baby was 4lb 3oz so so so tiny
