Induction

I am 38 + 2 weeks I have my next midwife appointment on Tuesday. Can I ask to be induced my pelvic gridle pain is intolerable and I don’t want to stay pregnant after week 40 as I am very anxious about the baby so how can I explain this to the midwife.

The worst they can say is no 🤷🏻‍♀️ ask and see what your midwife says! Both are as good a reason as any, but make sure you’re informed of the benefits and risks of inductions from a qualified source. The midwife will probably go over those with you too. They might try and talk you out of it, but you also need to do what’s right for you. By the time an induction is scheduled, you might not be far off 40 weeks anyway, depending on your area! Best of luck 😘

It's always worth asking! I wrote on my birth plan that I wanted to be induced at 40 weeks if I haven't gone into labour naturally by then, but my midwife I saw at my 38-week appointment said no, and that they don't normally look at offering inductions until 41/42 weeks which is a bit annoying! but it might vary from place to place 🤷🏽‍♀️

Mine don’t until 41+3 so 10 days overdue but always worth an ask xx
