Thank you, for some reason tonight she keeps waking even ten mins after going back to sleep. She doesn’t usually do this, so I hold her and she’s instantly back asleep. No idea what’s going on tonight. Usually though she is hungry to for the first feed then sometimes if I don’t feed her on the next wake she just cries and throws her head around until I get my boob out, other times she doesn’t and just settles in my arms. But yeah 5 wakes in a night is not uncommon atm and it’s killing me and just don’t understand how to break it when she sometimes throws herself around and escalates until I get my flipping boob out 😢. She used to be ok at self settling, I don’t know what happened!
It’s me now I managed to get to settle himself in a cot by himself during bedtime and for naps. But for some reason it didn’t improve our nights, and I just don’t have mental power to try and get him settled in a cot or in some other ways , when I know boob will get him back to sleep in a few minutes. Today was harsh. We weren’t even capping 2h. But I also realized that he leaked, but I think I noticed it late as his sleeping bag was fine. So I guess was waking up from being uncomfortable. I think once my partner is back I will get ready for 1-2 sleepless nights and train him using pick up put down method. That what I did for first time he goes to sleep. He is asleep within 10 minutes in his cot now. But still doesn’t self settle for night wakings.
My little girl has been the same. Although she has now dropped one feed around 12/1 o’clock and goes until 3/4 o’clock (last feed being the bedtime one). The only thing I changed was the order I did the bedtime routine, I now do bath, get ready, go downstairs for a feed and then take up her and rock her to sleep. Although it’s reduced the feeding at night, she still wakes up the same and has to be rocked to sleep🙈😂 but the plan is to slowly reduce the amount of rocking at bedtime and the eventually put her down in her own bed to go to sleep but think it’ll be a long process xx
Hey - this was me for a while and I admit, I still feed to sleep but I've managed to cut the wakings down again if I don't immediately whip my boob out. For example ...Baby is always down by 7.30pm and has had dinner and a bedtime feed. I know that she is fine til after midnight so if she ever wakes before I do not feed her. I only pat her or rock her back to sleep. As soon as I hear her stir, I jump up and attend and she is back in her cot within minutes. I have tried allowing her to self settle but she still struggles. What I find is if I jump quickly and she goes down without a feed, she is less likely to wake before midnight the next nights. There is definitely habits, so much so that I laugh when I get woken at 12.01. Also, in the night I try to keep her feeding so she can take 2 boobs before she snoozes. If I do that at 12, then I'm up again after 4am (now) and tha'tll be us now til hopefully 7am for morning. I am quite happy with 2 feeds in the night, it's when it's 4 or more get ups, it kills!!
