Constantly feeding

My little one is 4 days old now. Since 10pm she's been at my breast constantly. She'll feed for around 10 minutes on each side, then fall asleep, then wake up 5 minutes later and go again. The only break I've had from feeding her has been to change her nappy and even then she's rooting and sucking her fists and getting ready fof the next feed. Is this a normal amount to feed? I know she'll be cluster feeding but this seems like a lot, even for that. How has she still got the energy to feed? 😭 Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal? She's currently on hour 6 of constantly feeding. I know she's getting milk because it drips down my side! Is this normal??

I could have written this! My little girl is now 1 week old and the last 1-2 nights slightly better better but day 3/4/5 was basically on the boob 8pm- 3/4am near constant. I think it’s normal and it’s temporary but omg is it tiring!

Same, we're going through this right now! Still in hospital and baby is 3 days old! I had to add some aptamil to the mix as my breasts were too sore. Felt so guilty, but midwife said it's clusterfeeding and I should give myself some grace as I can't give him enough colostrum for what he needs (he's only 2.3kg). So gave myself a break this past night and bottle fed him and will pick it up again with the next feed. It helped us get some sleep. But yeah, it is normal. We did find trying to burp him, patting his back, seemed to relax him additionally, and swaddling him too. Good luck and you'll get through this!

I’m day 9 and just finding a bit of a routine with night cluster feeding! It does get easier as the days go by! The evenings are the worst for us! I red online your supply lessens in the evening and then will ramp up again after midnight, hence cluster feeding in the evening/ early night and then settling a little into the early hours!

I think im going through this little one is 18 days old and I bf during the day and top up with formula and at night only use formula so that both baby and I can sleep . In the first week I thought it was cluster feeding but realised I didn’t have enough milk by day 3/4 so added formula . Now milk has come through I combine with the 2 as baby needs .

It is normal. Breastfeeding is relly hard and like you said it sounds like cluster feeding. Don't think you're not making enough. It is the way your baby demands more production to your body. If this happens in the night I ask my husband to hold and rock baby (he walks up and down the room) normally naby falls asleep in his arms and he keeps him there for 1 or 2 hrs so I can get sleep. If he puts him down at thia point, baby will wake. So my husband stays awake for a bit so I can rest.

Try stroking/tickling her feet to stop her falling asleep, my daughter used to do the same fall asleep before she was full it's very common
