Maybe don’t start with a full bottle 😅 Feed just before you start drinking, and then wait for 2-3 hours until the next feed. If you pump you can just give a bottle and pump and dump in the meantime

My health visitor said as long as you can find hold and feed the baby in a sober manner your ok to breastfeed. You would need to be absolutely intoxicated for it to affect the baby but to be sure I’d wait Mby a hour after your last drink and drink plenty of water before and during nursing session

As @Martine said, the biggest risk isn't the alcohol going into your baby. Your body filters out most of the alcohol content so the amount your baby gets per drink is next to nothing. The risk is more to do with being intoxicated and unable to care for your baby. A couple of drinks is perfectly safe. Also, there is no need to pump and dump. This is a misconception. Alcohol naturally leaves your bloodstream over a few hours. You don't need to dump milk for this to happen. If you feel tipsy or drunk after a couple (alcohol affects everyone differently) feed with a bottle until you feel sober x

@Sophie oh god no that sounded wrong ahaha i just meant i bought a bottle not having the whole thing!! just thinking a glass of it or just even half a glass x

You can feed while drinking :) the issue with drinking is co sleeping / being able to hold the baby safely if you’re drunk. The milk isn’t affected. it’s made by the blood and the blood alcohol level will so small that there’s more alcohol naturally occurring in a glass of orange juice than there would be in your milk even if you had the whole bottle x

i’ve spoken to many lactation consultants for this information btw :) and my health visitor agreed too. a log of websites have misinformation only listen to a lactation consultant about breastfeeding info (same with medications, sometimes doctors will tell you you can’t feed on certain meds but they aren’t properly trained on breastfeeding so go on over cautious when really many meds are ok to take)

@Lauryne thank you!!🫶🏼

i usually have a wine with some lemonade and i never wait any time to feed, i feed whilst i drink but only ever have 2 glasses max on a night - probably equals 1 glass anyway with the amount of lemonade i have to wine ratio and baby has been absolutely fine. as long as you’re not reaching the level of tipsy or pissed then don’t worry! X

@Abi I couldn’t be bothered typing it out lol the tiktok explains it best! xx
