Colostrum

I’m booked for a c section in 2 days and I’m trying to harvest colostrum. I’ve managed to get a very small amount but it’s barely anything to collect. I’m on blood thinning injections so scared to continue with trying to get colostrum incase I go into labour before my section. I plan on breastfeeding anyway so baby should get all the good stuff. Is anyone else having the same issues?

Don't worry about I ut not collecting collostrum. I did and have not uses it. Because the best thing is to put baby on breast straight away.

I am also booked for c-section in 2 days at 39w have been trying to harvest colostrum since 36w and this is my 4th baby. I previously BF exclusively till 2.5yrs and have only been getting up to 0.3ml. I wouldn’t worry too much, most important thing is plenty of skin-skin after and ensuring baby feeds often at least 8-12 times over 24hrs. Some women don’t produce mass quantities (which baby won’t need right away) until the placenta comes away. ☺️ best of luck.. enjoy your baby bubble 🫧 xx

Haha my colostrum harvesting was an absolute disaster 😂 I did get tiny tiny drips out in the end, but ended up messing up the syringe and the end popping off and losing everything that I’d managed to get 😂😂 after all the effort it has taken, I don’t know if I can do it all again now ahah
