Weight loss vs breast feeding

I’m combined feeding my baby with actually now more breast feeding than formula . I’ve worked so hard with the breast feeding as I’ve not found it easy hence combined feeding but I’m feeling so unconfident about how I look. I feel like I need to eat lots of calories for the breast feeding to work well but not sure if it’s more due to drinking lots. Ideally I’d like to keep breast feeding but also want to lose about two stone. Can I do this? Any tips!?

Breastfeeding uses a lot of energy so if combined with a healthyish diet and more healthy snacks, you should see some difference. I’m the same, I keep snacking on chocolate and biscuits during the night feeds 😅 but i find when I have time to prepare healthier snacks and meals I do notice a difference. Would say there’s not a massive need to up calories too much unless very hungry x

it’s more about your body being fuelled with nutrient rich foods, than the amount of calories. You could eat 3000 calories of whole foods (meats, fish, veg, carbs) or 2000 of pastries, chocolate and processed foods, and your body will feel and work the best with the higher Calories as the nutrient content is far better! Your breastfeeding journey is such a short period of your life, you have alllll the years ahead of you to shift weight and look ‘better’ (I’m sure you look amazing) focus on looking after your body with goodness and your body will look after you in return ❤️

@Chloe thank you!
