I wouldn’t pump if you are directly feeding your baby until about a month after when your supply evens out a little bit more. what your seeing is your supply coming in which is great, but if you aren’t careful you could tell your body to make extra and could lead to clogged ducts/ mastitis (that’s what happened to me- I was so excited to store milk and became and over producer, and got mastitis twice, once in each boob) be careful mama! You’re doing great!!

@Kidy I was told to pump before I feed because it seems like my milk is coming out to much and too fast and to pump so he doesn't cough/spit up everytime

@Samantha ahhh okay! totally understand- maybe cut down the time you are pumping before feeding the baby- just catching that initial letdown so it’s not too strong for them

@Kidy okay thank you

@Samantha yes!! My baby’s was that way too! Just keep the diaper folded away like you have now, and I waited to give him a bath so I didn’t have to worry about keeping it dry lol it fell out about 10 days after I brought him home

I have a 4.5 month old so I’m a little ahead of you but I was worried about EVERYTHING!!! If you need anything or have any other questions you can always reach out and DM me!! 🫶🏼

@Kidy did your babies look like there was yellow underneath the umbilical cord? I just hope it's not infected.

Yes you are, but it's normal to have an oversupply early on. Unless you're trying to build a stockpile fast, I wouldn't pump more than a minute or two if you're also nursing, it'll make your oversupply worse and lead to engorgement and clogs. If you want to get rid of the oversupply, try block feeding. It should start to regulate between 4-6 weeks. If you have a really heavy let down (my main issue), you can also try a haaka and just catch the let down that way and then nurse

@Samantha this is probably totally normal. My son's turned yellow too. As long as it isn't bleeding or oozing and it's not red around his stump, it's okay. Always ask your doc though if you're concerned. Never a dumb question when it comes to babies

@Samantha yup! It’s just like dried fluid- keep an eye out for redness on the skin around or blood
