It is the same with 21 month old son. We are checking out a speech therapist today.
Are they trying to speak? I'm a firm believer in not every child is the same and they go at their own pace. My son says words but isn't putting together sentences yet and his ped doesn't see a problem. I also worked in several daycares over a span of ten years and have seen the difference in paces of speech without them being autistic. Every child is different so if you feel in your mama gut that something is off, then get a second and third opinion ❤️
My son only has a couple words but he babbles all day long and understands two languagess. It was suggested we call birth to 3 but I’m going to hold off.
I recently put my son into early intervention because of his speech delay. He may or may not have austin but i won’t know until he gets evaluated. He does try to say words but doesn’t fully make it out it’s just like he babbles. Every kid is smart in their own way. You got this mama 🫶🏼💗
Also in the same boat. My twins turn 2 at the end of January. We see a speech therapist for the first time on Thursday. They understand what I’m saying but will not respond back or repeat. Just babbles and an occasional mama or dada.
I would suggest contacting early intervention
Same thing. I contacted early intervention and they evaluated him, but he didn’t quite qualify. He’s right on the line, but not delayed. That was a few months ago, and I’m still seeing no improvement. So I may contact them again. What I say is, early intervention and speech therapy can’t hurt any, so def give it a try. And if they need it, they will be getting the help right on time!
Same with my daughter she was recently diagnosed with autism and a speech delay 😭
