Yes 😭 the right side used to be my little ones favorite on mine as well, now I'm currently recovering from nipple trauma due to poor latching and how crazy she'd like to go on that one
My baby girl fights against having to use the right boob, for some reason. No nipple trauma or supply issues, she just hates the right side. She will have a weak latch, and arch herself back and off of the right side again and again for the first 3-5min every time. Once she finally settled down and latches well, we are fine. But she seems to get so mad about using the right side for some reason. She does have tongue, lip, and buccal ties though...so I wonder if the right side makes her work harder against the ties than the left due to position or something like that 🤔🤔
Oh wow glad to see it’s fairly common although I feel for all of you ladies! @Aanchal I literally just figured out that I have to pump that side too 😭 bit late to the party
@Cas feel like I’m always recovering from a bad latch in that side 🫠 hope she grows out of it?!??
@Stephanie my baby had a tongue tie and still has a lip tie so an interesting theory!! Gosh you got all the ties! I know how hard that is, hope the feeds aren’t too painful? Are you getting a procedure to sever the ties?
Have you tried laying her a different way on that side so that she’s laying with the same cheek down as she would for the left side? Sometimes they prefer to have their head the same way. If that makes sense
@Marla yes I noticed cross cradle works better on that side compared to my usual big breasted rugby hold lol… still not ideal tho bc of the rack
@Julia yeah I have the same problem. But I just hold back some boob fat with my fingers so he can breathe lol better than being engorged. I used to have to use the nipple shield just on that side but he finally figured it out, thank goodness for my nipples sake😆
@Marla hahaha beautiful 😂 and amazing to hear that he figured it out!! I’m hoping my girl will too 🤞
My baby prefers one side over the other but that’s also because she has a poorer latch (she had a tongue tie snipped at week 2). I still try and get her to feed on the side she doesn’t like and she will take it with some encouragement.
@Alice same here, tongue tie snipped at 2weeks and we still have a lip tie. Snipping it was the worst experience ever as a parent! How old is your baby now? Had her feeding improved significantly?
My baby prefers the right side and gets very cranky when i try to latch her to the left. I rely on the pump to keep supply going on the left side.
