Best bottle for a breastfeeding baby?

Hey Mamas, I've recently joined this group and needed some advice. I've been exclusively breastfeeding my baby since he was born. He's 11 weeks and I've tried giving him a bottle with expressed milk and formula but he doesn't like it at all.. he'll just cry with the bottle in his mouth. Both myself and my husband have tried and he reacts the same way. I am desperate for a break and need some time out to myself but him not taking the bottle doesn't help. It's also affecting my mental health and was wondering if I could get some tips/advice. Btw I've tried MAM as well as NUK bottle.

Dr Browns is great. Also, is there a lactation specialist at the hospital you gave birth at? Call your OB/GYN and ask them for someone. Most of the time they can even do a video call if you want. They help all types of feeding!

@Elena ok will take a look at those. Oh I didn’t know you could ask about Bottle feeding? I’ve spoke to HV they said keep trying but she may just not take to a bottle x

Second lanisoh ☺️ the teats fit on MAM bottles so you can just buy the teat to try. What helped us was to try when they’re happy and not massively hungry, even just an ounce to get them used to it and then build up from there when they will keep a bottle in their mouth

My little girl has taken a bottle since birth as well as breast but I found she would choke on the milk coming out the bottle despite the slowest flow teat. I’ve just bought Phillips Avent Natural Response and she took 3oz from the bottle without any issues! I had to try the two different teats that came with it (2&3) and she was better on 3 as 2 was taking too long for her to drink xx

Another vote for the lanisoh teats - we put this on our MAM bottles. If you haven’t tried already, you could try warming it too, that’s how we got our LO to take the bottle!

How are you giving the bottle? Teat size important. We tried moving my little one up to size 2 teat as she’s 7 month and mainly BF but she couldn’t get hang of it. We put her back on size 1 teat and she’s fine again. They’ve got to work harder when it’s breast I think! Also she used to have breast milk cold but then decided she likes it warmed up now!

@Nicola oh that’s interesting my baba struggled on teat 2 yet we put her back on 1 and she was fine! Just goes to show doesn’t it

Minbie are apparently the closest to mimic mums breast. I tried allsorts with my LO including the minbie one too and in the end he took a really cheap one out of a savers shop

The newborn pigeon bottle works for my breastfed baby.

Thank you ladies, will definitely give lasinoh teats a try as I do have MAM bottle. Will try the smallest teat size first to see if it works.
