Ouch!

My baby on occasional feeds has started clamping down on my nipple when feeding. Not pleasant! If she does it when she has teeth that will be my breastfeeding journey over, unless I can stop her doing it. The expression on her face shows that she is doing it on purpose (like a little demon 🤪) and I can’t work out why. It’s not to stop a fast let down because she is doing it well into a feed. Anybody else had this? Or do I just have a feisty girl on my hands?! 😅

My periods have returned so I just thought it was increased sensitivity at certain times of the month but now I’m wondering if my LG is clamping too 🤔

Yes they start to do this - little devils! It’s often a phase, but can also be a sign they’re getting bored, less hungry towards the end of a feed. Try to put your finger in the baby’s mouth to unlatch them - to teach them biting = no boob. Also try not to react or squeak as you making a noise might be amusing for the devils incarnate. With my first, I got a sense of when she was about to do it as she’d slow down feeding and have a thinking face. I’d have my little finger ready to shove in so my nip didn’t take the brunt!

Mine as well!!

I'm in the same boat, but now my baby is cutting teeth so I am so scared 🤣. But I find he does it when he is less hungry or when the flow is too fast.

@Philippa it’s sooo hard not to let out a yelp! But you’re right I think it does amuse her. I will try unlatch her before she does it as I do usually know when she is about to do it but I am currently saying no no no no, Isabella NO!! 😅 Sorry to hear it isn’t just me…but also kinda glad to know it’s not just my little monkey 🤪

@Sara oh gosh! That is not going to be fun 🫣
