sciatic nerve pain 23 weeks

OOF I went through it last night and this morning! Such bad pain in my left butt cheek that just got worse each passing minute. It was going down my leg and felt like knives. I couldn’t walk without crying. I tried a warm bath with epson salt, a heating pad, and stretches but it made it worse! I’ve heard this is common with pregnancy. I’m a teacher so I knew I couldn’t work today when I woke up howling in pain. Called my OB and she said to take 600mg of Advil. Naturally, I panicked since all you read is about how bad Advil is when pregnant…but I have to trust the doctors. She said it was fine in low doses for a few days. I immediately felt relief and could fully stretch out the nerve. Still good as of now but I’m terrified of it happening again and I want to avoid more Advil. Has anyone else experienced this?! Pregnancy ain’t for the weak!

I’ve had lower back pain since before my pregnancy. Have you tried Biofreeze? It has been a lifesaver for me! Costco has been carrying it.

Went through the same thing with baby #2 and now baby #3, sciatica pain is no joke. I wish I had a solution to share! My experience is that Tylenol, rest, stretches and walking (when possible), heat pad, and ofc baths with epsom salt helps a little here and there. It’s extra tough when the flare ups last for hours. Would love to hear if anyone else has experienced this and has some tips! Hang in there 🫂
