I’ve been pumping twice a day and my husband had been giving one bottle in the evening since our baby was about 4/5 days old because I didn’t want bottle rejection further down the line and also wanted to be able to leave her for a few hours with my hubby if needed! I find pumping in the morning has worked well because I leak lots during the night! Breastfeeding can cause so much stress at times if they’re relying on you at all times!
What about a haakaa? While you're feeding from one boob it just catches what leaks anyway from the one you're not feeding from and you're not having to actively pump - I can get about 90/100ml over 2 breastfeed sessions, which is enough for us and the baby for now for the odd bottle he has, maybe not later down the line but it's working well for the moment x
This is my second, I found pumping too time consuming so I’m giving my daughter a bottle of formula a night so I can go to bed earlier and my husband feed her. Don’t feel guilty breast feeding is very time consuming and hard going
Don't feel guilty about it. Do what works for you. I would say that I found pumping harder than breastfeeding. Tye pump is not as efficient as baby so I needed two sessions of pumping for one feed. You also need to make sure you don't go too long in between feeds withiut nursing or pumping to keep apply up (specially as you're only 3 weeks in) which means you would end up pumping instead or nursing and therefore being as demanding. This is my experience anyway, it may be different for other people.
