Induction :(

I’m sad, but I’m now 2 weeks overdue with a couple of monitoring issues with baby, so I’m being induced. Currently just had the pessary, and started at being about 1.5/2cms dilated with a very low baby and soft cervix. Does anyone have any positive stories to make me feel better about this? I really wanted to avoid induction, but just feels like the right choice now we’ve had a few problems.

I'm in almost exactly the same boat, so DM me if you want to chat.

I’m so gutted, but know it’s the right thing to do now I’m getting to the very last part of being overdue. I just really want this to go as smoothly as possible!!

I’m booked in for an induction for being overdue tomorrow! Not sure what to expect but I’ve read some positive stuff about it - only negative in my mind is how long it can take. What’s the starting process like? How are you feeling?

It’s only been an hour so far, so I’m just waiting for my monitoring time to be finished (ours is 1hr after it’s been inserted, then an hour break, then 2 listen ins), then I’m free to go for a walk around until I need to be monitored again! Nothing to report so far!

I was supposed to be induced today due to concerns and I’ve been pushed back a whole day… makes you wonder how concerned they are if they can just delay like that. I hope you have a smooth induction! I reached out to people on here and go some very positive stories back!! It’s not all bad with inductions and sometimes they are necessary x

To be honest, I had a really positive induction and it was my no 1 thing to avoid in my birth plan! Admitted for reduced movements and Pessary was fitted 5pm Wednesday with my cervix completely closed. Contractions started at 7pm coming 3 in every 10 mins but not very strong, they spread out a little through the night and became more consistent but further apart. Then on Thursday evening, after the 24 hours, pessary was removed and I was 3cm. Taken to labour ward Friday morning and waters were broken 12pm and hormones drip given at 2pm. Our little girl was here by 7pm with only 50mins of pushing… I used the tens machine and wooden comb and paracetamol whilst being induced then went on to have dihydrocodeine on the Thursday night after over 24 hours of contractions so I could get some sleep as the next step was her arrival and then just gas and air and dihydrocodeine whilst in active labour… the gas and air was really good for regulating and concentrating on my breathing!

@Sammie this is amazing!!! I’m really hoping for a positive reaction to the pessary - I was already slightly dilated so I’m reaaaaaaaaally using all my positive vibes that it just continues to help with that! Also, I just really don’t want to be on a ward for days 😂😂 Thank you so much, this has made me feel so much better!

@Jade my hospital is soooo busy on wards, I asked how many people were in and they said they were completely full with inductions and babies, so there’s obviously something in the water at the moment!!

Stay active too!! I spent all evening walking on the Wednesday and that’s when the contractions started and then went for multiple walks around the hospital on the Thursday and I think that helped keep things moving! I also spent a lot of time on the ball!

@Sammie amazing. I’ve just been allowed out after monitoring so went to get some food, and I’ve stolen a ball to bounce on once I’m done!

Good luck!! Hope it all goes well for you 🤞🏼

Mine was positive, i had the pessary inserted at 1pm and they gave me a sweep i started contracting 3 in 10 mins but couldn’t feel them, they was suppose to check me after 6 hours but it was more like 8/9 hours they checked me i was 2cm and was able to go to the labour ward when they had a bed to break my waters. I got to the labour ward around 11, unlucky for me the system went down so they made us a brew whilst we was waiting. It came back on after about an hour, they broke my waters gave me a sweep at the same time. I was contracting but not for long enough so they gave me the hormone drip at around 4 am but a low dose. She was born at 7.23 am in 3 pushes. Was pretty smooth for me x

@Tasha this is really positive too!! I am hoping this happens for me, I am really praying when they take the pessary out then we will have had some sort of movement 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

Aww good luck x
