MKUH Hospital - private rooms?

Hi Ladies! For those who have delivered at MKUH - I’ve heard you can pay to get your own room post labour as opposed to staying in the shared ward - is that correct? I know some hospitals offer it but wasn’t sure about MK. Thank you

I gave birth there in June and nothing was said about that, I was just put on the ward

I got offered a private room to get some sleep on day 3 on ward 9 due to having an epidural tap and needing to rest to try and heal it and i couldn’t sleep on the ward but when it was my time to go in someone needed it more than me so they do have them but they are very very limited.

Heya, when I asked about paying to stay in a private room, they said they don't offer that as they can't guarantee that they have any capacity. I think they only reserve private rooms to patients who have had a hard birth/recovery? Anyways I opted for a homebirth and it was the most amazing experience ever!

I gave birth there in April via C Section and was never told that. I was told they only had one private room on the whole ward and that was it.

I gave birth there last month (failed induction leading to emergency c section) and they are sooo short staffed literally 1 or 2 midwives max per ward so I wouldn’t be surprised if they can’t accommodate this to be honest. Maybe just be prepared for worse case scenario of being on the normal ward

They no longer give out private rooms unless clinically needed, you used to be able to pay for one but that's changed now. I had a private room with my first and on the main ward with my second, dare I say the ward was slightly better for getting assistance, rounds etc private rooms can cause them to kinda forget about you a little bit, it is more peaceful for sleep though x

My sister did this at Stoke Mandeville hospital in Aylesbury. I asked in MK and was told this service doesn't exist anymore. Sorry x On a positive note, my sister said she struggled getting help when needed but on the ward there are people there and the midwives are much easier to reach.
