Induction on due date?

I was just wondering, can I choose to have an induction on my due date? Or do they not allow it until you reach 41 weeks? I am due on 11 January. If she came early it would be fine, but I feel like I don’t want her to come late. It’s my birthday on the day I’m 41 weeks and I have said if I was offered an induction at 41 weeks I’d take it but I really want her to have her own day rather than share her mums birthday🤣 might sound silly… but can I ask to be induced on my due date at 40 weeks if I’ve not gone into labour naturally then?

So I went to my 40 week midwife appointment and they booked me in for a induction at 41+5 next Friday, I didn’t get to choose, they said they didn’t book one in until your 12 days over, but I’ve been told if there’s anything earlier they’d let me know x

Even if you’re offered it at 41 weeks exactly it doesn’t mean baby will be born on that day, inductions can take up to around 4 days depending on how your body reacts to the different methods. I had the balloon only and it still took 3 days xx

Induction labour is much painful than natural labour 😏 but if induction is what you want then ask your midwife

I chose to be induced at 39 weeks but baby came at 38+3 naturally after 5 stretch and sweeps. You can always ask for some stretch and sweeps which can help start labour but not always they work but worth an ask xx

Depends on the practice in each unit. If there are no other reasons for induction you might need to wait until whatever gestation they can book you in. As someone said, induction can take days so you should be ok having your birthday and then going in to be induced the next day or whenever.

My midwife didn’t book me into till 10-12 days after due date. Lucky lo came at 40+6 anyway x
