Sleep sack swaddle concern!

Hey all! My baby is 5 weeks old today and I’ve been having some concerns with her sleep sack swaddle recently, more specifically, swaddling her. She is quite active and has been a little escape artist since she was born. However, over the past week I noticed that she has been wiggling more at night and has now led to her loosening her swaddle, last night being the third time this week it has happened. This has led to loose fabric being over her face and has caused a lot of anxiety. I’m wondering if it’s time to try just a sleeper and sleep sack without the swaddle part? I know it’s early, but it makes me so anxious that this has been becoming more common. Thank you in advance for your thoughts on this!

Same thing with mine so i switched to a sleep sack at week 5!

@Alice that’s good to know! Did it work well for your little one? I just kept thinking 5 weeks was too early but I’m scared of suffocation/SIDS risk

We’re in a sleep sack too at 6 weeks. It’s been great.

Same thing was happening with my 7 week son. I switched to this zipadee-zip transitional swaddle sack and it’s been way less stressful at night.

I started using the kyte sleep sack last night. He is also 5 weeks, and he slept better. It was easy to change him in the middle of the night too

One of my mom friends recommended a sleep sack or a swaddle where their hands can be free so they can't roll over. Our LO is 6 weeks (today 🤗) and this week was our first week using a sleep sack with arms and it was wayyy less anxiety inducing and he slept better! Make sure you look at the TOG for the sleepsack and dress according to the weather in your home! Hope this helps! Good luck momma!

What swaddle are you using that can be loosened? I believe velcro or zipper swaddles are recommended to be safer. We just ordered these for when our big boy outgrows his Swaddle Me. They're supposed to be like a knock off Zippadee Zip. https://a.co/d/6HloOqc

Have you tried one that's a bit different style? Like the Love To Dream "Swaddle Me Up" or the Zipadee Zip swaddles? I found that my LO (only 3wks) does much better in the zip up swaddles than the wrap style ones

Thank you for all the suggestions! I definitely think she sleeps better in some sort of swaddle, but I wasn’t about to risk safety concerns. I guess I’ll be shopping today 😂

I use the Halo Sleepsack swaddle and let my little one’s arms be up at his face. He usually wiggles one out, but the sack velcros so it doesn’t come loose and cause a suffocation issue

We do have several Velcro ones, we just happened to be using one that doesn’t this past week. I bet that’s a bit part of our issue too!

My girl has done this since 2 weeks 😂 She is 5 weeks now and we finally found a swaddle she can’t break out of, doesn’t cover her face and she sleeps way better than before. Its the Love to Dream Swaddle up

Same! I have been trying to do it a bit tighter when we swaddle her. But totally understand the anxiety. Mine literally pulled it up over her face like a blanket. I watched her do it

My babe is 3 weeks and has always been an escape artist from his swaddles. We pretty immediately started putting him in a sleep sack/swaddle combo. It's a sleep sack that has a Velcro swaddle top so that he doesn't startle awake but even if he gets his arms out there's no additional loose fabric.

We’ve been doing the sleep sack since around week 2 because it was bothering her. It’s been great!
