@Lauren thank you for the reply. Wow that’s rough sorry you had to go through that 😫 that gives me a lot of hope. I’ve seen good outcomes for babies born past 34 weeks but I’m just so scared the baby will end up with something awful happening. My son has cerebral palsy and his epilepsy has made him blind I don’t think I could carry on if I ended up with a second disabled child 😞
I'm glad I've given you some hope. It was a difficult time but I'm focusing on the positives. I completely get worrying/thinking the worst almost but there's nothing to say, anything bad will happen so I'm keeping everything crossed for you that things will be ok 🤞🏻 You're probably stronger than you think. Do you have people you can reach out to/talk to about your main worries?
I had a section at 34 weeks due to abnormal blood flow and preeclampsia. As I'd been in hospital on and off for 3 weeks due to it I'd been given steroid injections the week before. Baby boy arrived weighing 3lb 5oz but has been absolutely fine really, we spent 2 weeks in SCBU, mainly to establish feeding. A few issues with weight gain and reflux in the early months but he's 10 months now and doing really well. He's still small but think he was always going to be x
I recently had my 2nd baby via c-section at 34weeks exactly due to poor blood flow and restricted growth. He was 4lb 2oz and was all ok just small. I delivered in Chelsea & Westminster hospital and he came straight to the ward with me and avoided NICU, he just needed a heated mattress and had regular obs. He didn’t latch to the breast but bottle fed ok and we were discharged on day 5. He is now 8 weeks and doing really well! He is actually on a higher centile for his corrected age than my 1st who was born small for his gestation which was not picked up. I found the c-section recovery much better 2nd time round - and think this is probably as I was in hospital for 5days so was forced to rest and also I didn’t labour before hand like I did with my 1st baby. I was also apprehensive having a baby so early as had no experience of this but have so far found it all ok! Best wishes for your baby & delivery! xxx
I had my rainbow girl at 32+6, waters broke and she came the day after by emergency c section as I wasn’t dilating past 7cm and her heart rate was low. She was 3lb 8 when born and was ok just small, needed help with feeding and managing her temperature which is really common for preemies. She’s now 20 weeks (13 corrected) and weighs 8lb 12! She’s just below the 0.4th centile, has stuck to her own centile line bless her! Any questions please feel free to message me! X
I had my son at 34+6 due to obstetric cholestasis, pre-eclampsia and my placenta wasn't working properly so they said all that contributed to my son being measured as small. (Was on like the 1st centile when pregnant) He came via emergency c-section as things were getting worse for me and they said if I delivered him vaginally, due to him being small he wouldn't make it and it wasn't safe for him to be inside me anymore. He was born weighing 4lbs and we were in special care for 2 weeks but he's now thriving and doing so well. I won't go into loads of details about everything through a comment as would be here forever 😄 but feel free to message me any questions or if I can give you any reassurance as like I say my son is thriving so much now. Hope you're ok x
